I read an article in BtoB Magazine about the enduring appeal of certain Trade Show exhibits. It got me thinking about all the trade shows I have attended or staffed. I have significant experience in this department and hope I can pass some knowledge onto you.

In my opinion, there are 3 reasons why the upcoming RFID Journal Live trade show will be beneficial for both you and me.

Getting to see people face to face

The importance of in-person connections is obvious. It is what we humans do. We connect because we need to. Going to the RFID Journal trade show allows us to do this within the RFID industry. We like people who are like us. By this token, we enjoy speaking with people who have similar interests.

Possibly, the greatest stimulation comes from hearing speakers, sharing meals, and networking during breaks. It helps me, personally, to gain new knowledge and pick up new ideas within our industry. I can then bounce the ideas off of similarly interested people.

Checking out the companies we want to work with

Everyone wants to have a positive relationship with their partner companies. For this to happen, it is helpful to create a positive emotional experience between both of you. The positive feeling of a constructive face-to-face encounter will transfer to a stronger relationship. This will lead to doing business with them now and in the future. I enjoy conducting business with people I know and trust.

Hanging out with other people

This may seem eerily similar to the first reason, but it is that important. Meeting people in the flesh makes it much easier to build a relationship. There is only so much one can connect over the phone or in an email. Relationships are built during coffee breaks or while visiting a booth. It’s a chance to see each other and build a bond of trust. The relationships made face to face are extremely valuable to your marketing message. With a glimpse into someone’s eyes, you can distinguish massive amounts of information, concerning both their character and their intentions.
